Matthew Wade, one of LAHorror.com’s first featured filmmakers, has recently dropped the trailer for his feature film “How the Sky Will Melt,” and while this is only a small glimpse into this project it certainly looks fantastic. Wade’s films have such a unique and eerie vibe, not to mention the old-school look and sound that is reminiscent of a simpler, grittier age of bizarre horror. We featured their promo video a while back, but now you’ve got to check out the teaser for the film itself! It certainly raises a hell of a lot more questions than answers, but damn it looks beautiful! Enjoy horror lovers!
Grafton Torn is a horror film writer who’s in a rather peculiar situation. He’s just awoken from a coma and can’t remember what’s happened to him. In an effort to regain his memories, he’s induced hypno-therapy and a cocktail of drugs…and that’s when things get really ugly in writer/director Gregory Blair’s upcoming film, “Deadly Revisions.”
“He’s slowly having visions that are theoretically supposed to be helping him figure out what’s happened to him, but they’re so mixed up with visions from his own films that there’s this sort of, if you will, this dream-scape to his awakening…and you have to sort of figure out what’s a legitimate memory and what’s a fabrication of his own mind,” Blair told LAHorror.com.
Sounds freaky on its own, but throw in horror favorite Bill Oberst Jr. to portray the troubled Torn and you’ve got something downright scary on your hands. Blair fondly remembered meeting Oberst Jr. at an actor’s seminar. “I ended up being in horror films, actually as an actor, and I ended up hooking up with Bill Oberst Jr., and he’s the king of horror now; and he and I talked about our experiences in the genre and what drew us to it and all that, and we knew right away we wanted to do something together,” Blair said.
And that’s where “Deadly Revisions” was born. Blair wrote it a few years prior, yet he never felt the moment was right to launch the project. But after connecting with Oberst Jr., the pieces began falling into place.
“I had so many other projects going at the time, that nothing went forward with it at the moment, [‘Deadly Revisions’] was just sitting on the shelf, waiting for the right person, for the right time. Then Bill came along and it was like, ding! Right person, right time. Let’s go,” Blair said.
While “Deadly Revisions” is currently in pre-production, Blair directed a teaser trailer to give investors and a future audience a hint into what the film will bring to the table: Psychological terror, a haunting protagonist and of course plenty of frights.
“We’re really excited about it…everyone who reads the script is like, ‘Whoa. I can’t wait to be involved.’ They love all the twists; because Grafton is a man who is so confused, he’s a totally unreliable narrator,” Blair explained.
And while there may be some unknowns in Grafton Torn’s memories, one thing we can count on is “Scare Tactics” delivering us some horrifying memories of our own…
